Are you looking for an inspiring dance class, perhaps you want to add a unique and exciting touch to your special event or celebration, or maybe you're just looking for accurate and factual information about various aspects of the history and culture of Oriental Dance; if so, this is the site for you.
When most people think of
the Middle East, what usually comes to mind is either oil or political unrest.
However, if you make an effort to look beyond these limiting
stereotypes, you will find that there are far more positive things that
this region has to offer the world.
Almost 20 years ago, a teenager living in the South Bronx was introduced
to the world of Middle Eastern music and Dance. It gave him a reason
to be happy, a way to experience joy, it increased his self esteem, but
most importantly, it showed him that there were things worth living for
and inspired him to do something productive with his life. That teenager
was me.
I've made this website to help share that joy with you, while also creating
an appreciation of Middle Eastern Dance as a legitimate art-form and cultural
expression, on a par with Flamenco, Hula, African and Classical Indian Dance.
In so doing, I hope that you will gain an understanding and respect
for the many peoples of The Middle East and North Africa and be motivated
to explore the may treasures that they have to offer the world.
