Thank you for your
interest in the PlayGround Development Series |
|
at manhattantheatresource |

PlayGrounds are at the heart of our
mission to provide free
theater space for emerging and
independent artists to try out
new work so that we can all
work, learn & inspire one another.
This series lends the
theatre, free of charge, on some Sundays,
Mondays
& Tuesday, when the theatre would otherwise be dark.

In our first year at
the strength to grow into manhattantheatresource.
The
PlayGround Development Series continues to inspire
new work.
In our first 5 years, the Source has provided opportunities for
more than
3000 artists in over 600 stage productions.
We’ve seen an exciting
parade of
~ New Plays ~ Cabarets ~
Dance ~ Puppetry ~
~ Multi-Media & Concerts
~
We
pledge to develop more and more ways to enable small companies and performers
to produce projects of their own. Our
role in this very successful series is not as arbiter of art, but rather as
practical resource. We let audiences
judge—and explore—for themselves.
Seating up
to 55 people in a variety of configurations, our 600 square foot performance
space has a roomy tech booth equipped with a computerized lighting board
controlling 24 dimmers, video and sound equipment, and a full inventory of
lighting instruments hanging on an 11-foot custom grid. Much care has been taken to preserve the
160-year-old red brick walls, as well as the red oak hardwood floors. A spiral staircase leads to well-appointed
dressing room below stage with lockers and a shower.
We
provide: tech, front of house
support, programs, and some publicity.
Tickets: are
