PlayGround Application

PlayGrounds are at the heart of our mission to provide theatre exchange for emerging and independent artists to try out new work so that we can all work, learn & inspire one another. This series opens the theatre on Sundays, Mondays & Tuesdays, when the theatre would otherwise be dark. The PlayGround Development Series continues to inspire new work. In our first 10 years, the Source has provided opportunities for more than 8700 artists in over 700 stage productions.

We pledge to develop more and more ways to enable small companies and performers to produce projects of their own. Our role in this unique series is not as arbiter of art, but rather as practical resource, offering the use of our inspiring west village theatre with no upfront costs.*

Seating up to 55 people in a variety of configurations, our 600 square foot instruments hanging on an 11-foot custom grid. Much care has been taken to preserve the 160-year-old red brick walls. A spiral staircase leads to a dressing room & facilities below stage.

We provide: tech advice, front of house support and some publicity.
